Both of our favourite UV Lights, a Short and a Long wave lamp, for just  £27.95

Long wave lamp

This long wave lamp will show you the different types of fluorescent and coloured bands on GB stamps (see illustration for blue and yellow). It will also work on stamps from Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Norway and Russia.

This lamp will also detect different paper types i.e.:  OCP, FCP, PCP and ACP.

For best results, use in a dimly lit room against a dark background.
This handheld portable model requires 4 AA batteries.

Short wave Lamp

This Short wave lamp will clearly show you the phosphor and the phosphor afterglow on GB stamps up to 1992.

For best results, use a short wave lamp in a dark room. The darker the room, the better.

To see the different coloured phosphors on the 1960 Wildings issue, it's the phosphor afterglow you are looking for when you turn the UV light off. The Blue phosphor is the brightest (15 seconds afterglow) followed by Green (10 seconds). The Violet has a very short afterglow (5 seconds). It will be difficult to see the afterglow in daylight, the darker the room the better. Shortwave UV can also be used to detect aniline inks.

Each lamp will require 2 x AA batteries
